On December 21, 2019, themed with "Reflection Practice Challenge ", the 5th Model United Nations Conference of Tianjin Binhai Foreign Language School was successfully held with over a hundred teachers and students participating.
The opening ceremony officially kicked off at 8 o'clock. Deputy Principal Yu Shuang and Deputy Director of Teaching Affairs Department Xiong Hua attended the ceremony. In the opening speech, Deputy Principal Yu Shuang emphasized that the themes of the five MUN conferences of our school all connected the prospects and destinies of every nation and country closely together and provided students with an irreplaceable platform to get in touch with the globe. She hoped students could learn foreign languages well and use them as the bridge for narrowing the gap between each other and become an international talent in the new era. Then Zhang Yihan, chair of English Commission and ,Wang Yu,chair of Chinese Commission both made their speeches and introduced the topics. Then, Wu Yifei, and Xi Yufei, delivered speeches on behalf of all MUN club members. After that, the opening video and wonderful performances by students pushed the ceremony to a new high.
At 9:30, the English session and Chinese session started their meeting. The topic of English Commission is "Improving Internet Security", while that of Chinese Commission is " Peaceful utilizing of outer space". Under the guidance of well-experienced Dais members, all delegates of each session spared no efforts to discuss the topics and work together to complete the working papers and cooperate with each other.
The pattern of delegates from primary school and secondary school working together to represent one country was adopted again this year. What's worth mentioning was that more and more pupils became confident enough to come up to the stage and make their voice heard. After concerted efforts, one draft resolution in English Commission has been made and passed successfully. In Chinese Commission, one joint declaration has been made and passed successfully too.
The closing ceremony was held at 16:15 in the lecture hall. Social party was first held with a variety of excellent performances. After that, conference reports were made respectively by chairs of English and Chinese commission. Also the names of excellent delegates and volunteers were announced and awards were presented by chairs of English and Chinese commission. This year's conference came to an end after the closing video.
Under the guidance of school-running principle -- combining Chinese and western culture, cultivating international talents, the 5th MUN Conference was held successfully, which indicates our MUN Club has reached a new level and our students have improved their comprehensive abilities required. Moreover, it has laid a solid foundation for the sound development of our MUN Club in the future. Last but not least, best wishes to these young MUNers—you are future leaders!
