The Seventh Foreign Language Festival of TBFLS kicked off in December. On the afternoon of December 9th, Campus One held the final of the English Speech Contest in the lecture hall, which was attended by Director Chu Jianping, Deputy Director Feng Ying, the grade leaders and parent representatives.

There were nine contestants in the speech contest who had reached the final. The two students from Grade Three expressed their wish to help the children from poverty-stricken areas with the theme of “If I had super powers”. Seven students from Grade Four to Grade Six described the world’s beauty with the theme of “Colors of the world”. They called on everyone to protect the environment and build a colorful home together. The students’ fluent and clear English expression infected every audience here. At the end of the speech, the contestants brought us wonderful talent shows, including cheerful English songs, graceful dances, passionate aerobics dancing, calm calligraphy display, and English dubbing show and imitation show. All of these shows fully demonstrated the solid oral skills and rich extracurricular life of the young competitors.

The children of Grade One and Grade Two were not to be outdone. With funny appearances, passionate African drum playing and beautiful female chorus, the first graders’ show “Ten little Indian boys” was really impressive . And the singing and dancing performance of the second graders, “We are all in this”, ignited the passion of the audience. The stories of Little Red Riding Hood and little tadpoles were played in a new way. The children used fluent spoken language and vivid acting to lead the audience to enjoy the fairy tale world again. In the end, the fifth graders used a drama “Wonderful world” to show that China, as one of the four ancient civilizations, had a close relationship with the magnificent and long-standing world culture, and called on the students to contribute to the realization of the “Chinese dream”.

After fierce competition, Lucy, from Class Ten, Grade Five, won the first prize. Director Chu, the foreign teacher Jaclyn and the parent judge Ms. Zhang spoke highly of the performance of the contestants. At last, the competition was rounded off with the award ceremony.

The English speech contest provided a wonderful opportunity for students to show their oral English and performance ability, embodied the school’s educational ideas and enriched the foreign language festival.
