Unity of Thinking and Learning, and Earnestly Resolving to Carry it Out

To further enhance the quality of English teaching, and train students’ subject core competencies in class, English teachers in Junior High School of TBFLS conducted a teaching and research activity with the theme of “promoting the development of students’ thinking based on the text” on the afternoon of November 13, 2019.

The content of this activity contains: demonstration classes sharing, collective listening and evaluating classes, and professional learning.



At the beginning, our English teachers share an online demonstration class from national foreign language school teaching forum. It’s a listening and speaking lesson with the theme of Talent? Me? from Chaoyang Campus of the High School Affiliated to Renmin University of China.



Then, Li Xiaoling from Grade 7 and Wang Weiwei from Grade 9 gave reports about the demonstration class and experts’ comments. After class evaluation and sharing, the group leader, Ms. Tian, carried out a thematic teaching and research activity with the theme of “training students’ core competencies and promoting the development of students’ thinking based on the text”.



To better combine theory with practice, Ms. Tian organized all the English teachers to review the teaching standards and learn how to make students think about the topic deeply and express their own ideas bravely. Teachers from each grade shared their ideas. They all agreed that teachers should lead the students to open their minds and understand the deep meaning of the text better.



In the end, Ms. Tian made a conclusion about the subject research. According to her, teachers should possess the spirit of inquiry, and cultivate the habit of thinking in daily life. We should try to design diversified and open questions to stimulate students to think actively.
